Sculptures of Joan Miró from the Asahi Beer Collection

Jun 22, 2019-Sep 1, 2019

Joan Miró (1893-1983), born in Barcelona, the capital of the Catalonian region of Spain, broke fresh ground with the works of art he created featuring motifs of birds, women and stars against the background of the natural environment of his hometown. A leading artist in the 20th century, Miró explored the world of free expression until his death at age 90.
Although he is best known as a painter, Miró was also passionately engaged in other areas as well as painting. Since 1944, he worked extensively in sculpture, producing a number of exquisite pieces.

In this exhibition, 14 sculptures from the museum’s collection will be put on display for the public.
Together with Miró’s paintings, the exhibition will explore the artist’s subjects of fancy, such as birds, women and figures, as we introduce the charm of Miró’s works of art that glow with vitality.
