This exhibition highlights "Plant", whose beauty captures our imagination, the fragrance gives us comfort, and their vitality has attracted us for a long time. Claude Monet(1840-1926), who spent a great deal of his time pursuing the source of creation, settled finally in Giverny, near Paris, and planned own gardens as painting picture. He represented his image as a real garden, with his comprehension of the arrangement of plants and scheme of flowers.
Numerous works were created in the garden, a place of contemplation and peacefulness. In the exhibition, the expression of plants are shown through museum’s collection, including Monet's "Water Lilies", old ceramics with plant pattern and works of modern potters such as Kanjiro Kawai and Shoji Hamada, and "Rankafu" , a series of botanical woodblock prints of orchids produced by the owner of Oyamazaki Villa.
