The water lily pond Monet had created at his home leapt out of his life in Giverny and developed into the large decorative paintings covering the entire walls of the Musée de l’Orangerie in Paris. This painting on a 2 meter-long canvas was made during the period when Monet was working on his grand series of paintings.
