This work is one of about 10 lampshades Kuroda was commissioned to create for Mikuni-so. Using black and red lacquer and traditional feather motifs, he created a shade with a visible sense of rhythm. None of the hardness seen in domestic lampshades is present, with the chic taste apparent in the shades indicating Kuroda's mastery skill with Kyoto wood lacquer.
