On both sides of this grand Joseon white porcelain vase there are images of a fishing ship crossing a river. This landscape likely represents the Han River, which flows through the Korean peninsula. The surface of the water is expressed in pale blue broken lines, showing the currents of the stream.

With relaxed and simple brush strokes, the calm fishing village portrayed here by a potter from the Joseon era makes for a picture with lyricism aplenty.
